Hartford Whalers

HARTFORD WHALERS

by Eric Seddon

There used to be an ache
Where you once lived,
O Brooklyn Dodgers
Of my own
Mythology.

But now, as years
Progress, and middle
Age leaves less
And less
For sports and
Other
Imitation passions,
I find you are
Preserved,
Near perfect

Like a memory
Of youth
The awkwardness
Removed
By sanctifying graces
Of nostalgia.

Like me back then
You cannot lose:
Frozen in a
Picture:
The Civic Center
Arms raised
In victory

Over
        time.

One of the great logos in Sports history: the 'H' for Hartford
filling the negative space left by Whalers 'W' and the tail
